The NYS Forum Security & Business Continuity Workgroups are pleased to solicit interested parties for presenters for the following seminar. We leverage the membership of The NYS Forum IT Corporate Roundtable as a resource to draw upon for expertise on the topic at hand. Session Topic: Cybersecurity Concerns related to Information Technology Risk

Time: A 60 minute session will be scheduled in the window of 9:30 am - 4:15 pm

Session Description - Targeted Audience: The NYS Forum Security and Business Continuity workgroups are collaborating with the New York State Internal Control Association (NYSICA) for meeting, presentation and knowledge assistance.

NYSICA provides training and staff development for member agencies in three areas: professional development, refresher training, and beginner orientation based on the New York State Governmental Accountability, Audit and Internal Control Act. NYSICA serves New York State's agencies, authorities and commissions, as well as a growing web community comprised of over 400 participants from international, federal, state, and local governments.

The NYSICA 4th Annual Conference on Fraud, Integrity, and Controls will be held on November 10, 2016, at MTA Headquarters, 2 Broadway, New York, NY.
The NYS Forum community has been asked to provide a presenter to inform on Cybersecurity concerns related to Information Technology (IT) Risk.

Event Description:

  • The audience will be internal control, risk management and auditing staff from NYS government entities.
  • 100-125 attendees are expected.
  • NYSICA is scheduling speakers throughout the event day. The event planning anticipates 4 or 5 speakers on a variety of topics.
  • A minimum of 50 minutes of content is required per presentation. Professional Development Units will be awarded to NYSICA members who attend the sessions.
  • The expectation is that the session will inform the attendees in the following areas of Information Technology Risk:
    • An understanding of Cybersecurity Issues
    • How Cybersecurity issues may impact IT Risk management
    • Third-party service provider relationships related to Cybersecurity issues

      Presentations must be designed to inform attendees about the session topic and also provide them with practical, actionable information that organizations and end users can apply immediately to their own environments.

      All presentations must be vendor neutral. All presentations will be vetted by a group comprising members from The NYS Forum Work Groups hosting this event. Feedback and recommendations regarding final presentation material will be provided by this group.


      Presentation Guidelines - Rules of Engagement

      • Presentation must be made using The NYS Forum's Power Point template.
      • Presentations must be vendor and product neutral.
      • Presenter corporate logo and contact information should appear on the first and last Power Point slides only. Corporate logo must not appear on each individual slide.
      • The presenter must discuss the topic at an expert level, and direct the presentation toward the specific targeted audience identified.
      • Minimum of 50 minutes of content, an additional 10-15 minutes will be allowed for Q&A.


      • 10/13/2016 - Call for presenters distributed to vending community.
      • 10/18/2016 - Deadline for proposals from vendors.
      • 10/20/2016- Selection/notification of presenters
      • 10/31/2016 - Deadline for first draft of presenter Power Points and related documents. PLEASE NOTE: All Power Point presentations MUST be made on The NYS Forum Power Point template which will be provided by a workgroup member coordinating this event.
      • 11/5/2016 - Deadline for final presentation Power Points and related documents.
      • 11/10/2016 - Event Date. Please plan to arrive a half hour before event begins.
