Series Overview

The purpose of this training program series is to introduce NYS staff, acting in a PM (Project Management) role without formal training, to the fundamentals of the project management discipline as outlined in the PMI's Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).

The training program will consist of a series of 10 sessions. Session 1, the Overview, was a 90-minute lecture providing an overview of the role of the Project Manager and the Project Management discipline.

The training program continues with a series of monthly 60-minute Knowledge Area sessions. Sessions 2-10 are based on the Knowledge Areas in the PMBOK. The Knowledge Area sessions will have a Lecture component and a Lab component. The Lecture will introduce and describe the Knowledge Area.
