Call for Presenters

The NYS Forum is soliciting presentation submissions to be considered for the NYSICA 2019 Spring Conference.

Session Description

The NYS Forum is collaborating with the New York State Internal Control Association (NYSICA) for meeting, presentation and knowledge share assistance. NYSICA provides training and staff development for member agencies in three areas: professional development, refresher training, and beginner orientation based on the New York State Governmental Accountability, Audit and Internal Control Act. NYSICA serves New York State's agencies, authorities and commissions, as well as a growing web community comprised of over 400 participants from international, federal, state, and local governments.

NYSICA has requested speaker submissions for review focused on the Information Technology aspects of Enterprise Risk Management. The presentations must be relevant and educational for internal control, risk management and auditing staff.

Possible examples are:

  • Predicative data analysis in risk management
  • Understanding the business architecture aspects of managing risk
  • Risk management with new technologies, such as IoT, Social media and Artificial Intelligence.

These are only examples, we encourage you to think of areas that will be helpful to internal control practitioners.

FYI - the topics of 3rd Party / Cloud risk and Insider Threats have been addressed.

Audience Profile
  • Internal control, risk management and auditing staff with NYS government entities.
  • 100-125 attendees are expected.
  • NYSICA is scheduling multiple speakers throughout the event day.
  • A minimum of 50 minutes of content is required within each 90 minute session. As an option; 2 or 3 speakers may be scheduled within a 90 minute session.
  • Professional Development Units will be awarded to NYSICA members who attend the sessions.

All presentations must be vendor neutral. Presentation content will be vetted by The NYS Forum and NYSICA. Feedback and recommendations regarding final presentation material will be provided by this group.


Presentation Guidelines - Rules of Engagement

  • Presentation must be made using The NYS Forum's Power Point template.
  • Presenter corporate logo and contact information should appear on the first and last Power Point slides only. Corporate logo must not appear on each individual slide.
  • The presenter must discuss the topic at an expert level, and direct the presentation toward the specific targeted audience identified.


  • 3/18/2019 - Call for presenters distributed to vending community.
  • 3/28/2019 - Deadline for proposals from ITCR Members
  • 4/5/2019 - Selection/notification of presenters PLEASE NOTE: All Power Point presentations MUST be made on The NYS Forum Power Point template which will be provided by the workgroup member coordinating this event.
  • 4/12/2019 - Deadline for first draft of presenter Power Points.
  • 4/30/2019 - Deadline for final presentation Power Points.
