The NYS Forum's Security Committee

Virtualization Related Security Risks

Session Overview

The presentation & resources are available on the Security Committee Resources page at

The objective of the NYS Forum Security committee is to work in collaboration with state and local agencies to develop education and training opportunities and tools that address cyber security issues. With that in mind the committee is hosting a half day session on "Virtualization Related Security Risks". The seminar will consist of four individual presentations each followed by a short question and answer period. The seminar will conclude with a panel discussion with all four presenters providing answers to questions from the audience

It has been proven that virtualization can save space, save money, protects the environment, and simplify management of information technology resources. The benefits are less apparent when it comes to being more secure. This seminar, which is targeted toward mid-level management, security officers, and senior technical staff, will provide direction in identifying these new risks. It will go on to provide recommendations to mitigating them.

The presentations are designed to inform attendees about the session topic and also provide them with practical, actionable information that organizations and end users can apply immediately to their own environments.
