Usability & Accessibility for Your Web Site

This seminar was hosted in conjunction with GTC East and was held on September 30, 2004 from 1:30 pm - 2:45 pm in The Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller Empire State Plaza Convention Center, Albany, NY 12242.

It provided an update on the concepts of accessibility (for persons with disabilities) and usability (for everyone) as they apply to the Web. You gained an appreciation of the hurdles some Web visitors face (including the number of customers who face these hurdles) as well as an introduction to the legislation and policies that address Web site accessibility. You heard lessons learned, key design concepts that make Web sites more accessible to people with disabilities and critical success factors for making your sites more usable for everyone.

Mike Short from the New York State Forum IT Accessibility Committee presented this seminar in three modules: 1) Policy, Law and the Web Experience of the Disabled; 2) Eating the Elephant: How to get started; and 3) Usability.
