The Electronic Equipment Recycling and Reuse Act

This session will familiarize attendees with the Ewaste recycling act and how it impacts them as customers who will be disposing of electronic equipment. State & local agencies, Municipalities, K-12 schools, BOCES, Higher Education & many other public sector entities have seen benefits as a result of the new law. Results from the program's first year will be reviewed, as well as goals for upcoming years.

Mark Moroukian, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation. Mark will explain the NYS Electronics Recycling & Reuse Act, and discuss the results of the first year of the program. There will be a review of resources DEC has available to help State agencies, and other public sector entities properly recycle eWaste.

Tom Osterhout, Director of Administration & Support Services, NYS Office of General Services. Tom has been with OGS for 31 years, and is currently the Director of Support Services Operations. He is responsible for multiple programs, including State Surplus Property.

Peter Bennison, Vice President, Business Development, RCR&R. Peter will provide the vendor perspective from the implementation side of the eWaste law. He will explain what is involved from the manufacturers' standpoint as well the logistics of collecting and recycling Ewaste throughout the state.
