NYS Forum Emerging Technologies Committee Seminar

Mobile Computing - Applications in Government

Due to the remarkable advances in a broad set of wireless, microprocessor and storage technologies, and the convergence of network infrastructure and pervasive computing facilities, individuals will soon be able to access and consume information anytime, anywhere, from any device.

Enterprises in the public and private sectors have deployed an impressive array of mobile computing solutions to increase operational efficiency, reduce costs, and increase constituent satisfaction. On August 15th, The Forum's Emerging Technologies Committee hosted this in-depth seminar on Mobile Computing that explored: technical requirements and architectures; business drivers and applications, and; the benefits and challenges that surround the deployment of technology in this expanding sector.
