Presentation Overview

This will be the first in a series focusing on recognizing and building a "Culture of Innovation" in NYC government. Additional sessions are planned for the innovative LinkNYC, SMART, TreesCount! and WE NYC projects.

Innovation is not just a buzz word; every employee regardless of their role in their organization can innovate! These sessions will allow staff to see why and how others in government have developed innovative solutions in addressing ordinary challenges to the benefit of the people of New York.

The award winning New York City Census FactFinder (CFF) was initially developed to meet demand for customizable geographic census data. For the recent CFF update, the Department of City Planning (DCP) Population Division, in collaboration with DoITT, innovatively developed an interactive mapping application that associates the American Community Survey (ACS) data to its respective geographies and provides query, selection, and visualization capabilities. The City's Census FactFinder application is unique in that no other entity provides free access to complete ACS profiles for custom geographies.

Join us in these sessions that are sure to inspire innovation in you!
