In the fourth event of a series focusing on recognizing and building a "Culture of Innovation" in NYC government; The NYC Innovation & Emerging Technologies Workgroup hosted an audience of roughly 50 attendees (in person and on web) at the NYC Department of Law.

The fourth event highlighted the innovative and unique manner in which NYC has developed the LinkNYC project. Stanley Shor, Assistant Commissioner, Franchise Administration, NYC Department of Information Technology & Telecommunications presented LinkNYC and the details regarding its launch and release. LinkNYC is a first-of-its-kind communications network that will replace over 7,500 pay phones across the five boroughs with new structures called Links. Each Link will provide superfast, free public Wi-Fi, phone calls, device charging and a tablet for Internet browsing, access to city services, maps and directions.

Following the presentation, there was an active and dynamic Q&A/Open Discussion session where the audience joined in to discuss the efforts in implementing this technology to the city.
