Achieving Project Management Office Success

The NYS Forum New York City Project Management Workgroup hosted an event entitled "Achieving Project Management Office Success" on June 15, 2017.  The event proved to be a constructive and informative presentation that addressed a number of ways to ensure that a Project Management Office (PMO) will provide value. The event was attended by roughly 80 members (in person and on web) at The NYS Forum.

Edy Nicolas, PMP, Principal Solution Consultant & Team Lead, Oracle, and Jonathan Blake, Senior Director, Global PMO, NTT DATA Services, were the featured presenters for the Thursday afternoon session. Following an introduction given by Renee Kraft, Senior Manager, IT Program Office, NYC School for Construction Authority, Edy Nicolas kicked off the event with his presentation of "Evaluating current PMO Maturity and planning for the next generation PMO". Edy covered the following topics: What is a PMO? Assessing PMO Maturity, Identifying PMO Culture, and Planning for next generation PMO. Jonathan Blake followed with a presentation on "Scalable PMO". How to Build an organization that has the right structure, delivers the right functions, and addresses the right needs - all the time.

Following the presentation, there was an active and dynamic Q&A/Open Discussion session involving those in person and on the webex. The event was extremely constructive and turned into an invigorating and captivating exchange of information and ideas providing much food for thought and plans for action.
