Former North Carolina CTO shares their Innovation Vision

On Tuesday, March 13, The NYS Forum was honored to have a Former North Carolina CTO address its members with a general overview of the transformation changes and its current Innovation Vision. "Best Practice Sharing" drawing a crowd of over 70 members, the event featured an insightful presentation showcasing the tremendous strides made by North Carolina around innovation throughout state government

North Carolina has been widely viewed as a government leader in advancing technology innovation. Under Eric Ellis'' leadership as the Director of the Innovation Center (iCenter), North Carolina made tremendous strides around innovation throughout state government, allowing them to become a national leader in the field. Eric helped create the 10,000 square foot iCenter and helped foster several collaborative technological relationships with public and private partners, and allowed North Carolina to test more than $15 million worth of technology, resulting in more than $10 million in savings and improved project success within the first 2 years.

Eric Ellis, currently the Director of Strategic Solutions at SHI International Corp. shared his experiences and discussed a number of topics including:

  • Where IT Sits in an Organization and How to Sustain Innovation
  • The 4 Types of Innovation and Why it Matters
  • Successful Implementation of an Innovation Program
